October 31 2025 Customer Advisory Notice

October 30, 2025

NZ Local Update

In the last week we have received numerous last minute vessel notices regarding port omissions and schedule changes due to weather conditions and port congestion

A reminder that the 2025 – 2026 BMSB risk season commenced from 01st September 2025 departure through to arrival 30th April 2026, BMSB seasonal measures will apply to targeted goods manufactured and shipped from target risk countries and to vessels that berth, load, or tranship from target risk countries within the same period.

FreightWorks has evaluated the FAF being charged to us by our carriers as of the 1st to 30th November 2025 and FAF rate will remain at 16%. This will be re-evaluated monthly.

Asia Market Update

Peak season from North Asia has finally begun with post Golden Week, Black Friday and Christmas volumes causing a sharp increase in demand for space coupled with a surge in import volume in Australia further impacting the amount of space and equipment available to the New Zealand market. Shipping lines have been quick to implement rate increases from second half of October and November and we are expecting they will try to hold these levels as long as demand
allows.

Southeast Asia rates continue to remain reasonably steady with small increases due to vessels remaining full largely owing to high volumes of tranship cargo moving through Singapore and Malaysia. Space can be tight, so we recommend booking in advance where possible.

China is introduced new export Compliance regulations from 1st October 2025 that will require any manufacturers or suppliers to hold an export licence. Previously suppliers have been able to engage third parties to attain licences on their behalf, this loophole will be closed from 1st October. We strongly recommend that you contact your suppliers to ensure that your supply chain remains compliant.

Europe Market Update

Shipping lines have kept their rates very stable inbound from Europe to New Zealand with very little movement in offers.

Space for Northbound export cargo is very tight with second leg vessels from Asia tranship ports to Europe heavily booked due to a mix of blank sailings and Asia to Europe Peak Season volumes.

Tranship ports in Singapore and Malaysia are reporting an increase in congestion with multiple missed connections and delays on North and Southbound cargo.

The recently announced ceasefire in the Middle East has raised questions about the possibility of a return to normal transit through the Red Sea corridor and the Suez Canal. However, due to ongoing risks shipping lines continue to avoid the Red Sea area and divert vessels around the Cape of Good Hope with advertised schedules continuing to be disrupted with vessels arriving off window due to delays.

USA / Canada Market Update

MSC has advised their intention to introduce their own exclusive Eagle service to/from New Zealand and Australia to USA East Coast commencing in February 2026. This service will consist of 11 vessels on below weekly rotation
